-
Key Event info - venue address, contact numbers, how to prepare
-
Agenda - gives an overview of the day and timings
-
Policy Motions - these will be debated on the day (includes debate rules)
-
Candidates for Election -see who is standing and what skills they can bring to the role
-
Consent forms - under 18 and 18 plus. These need to be completed in advance and brought with you on the day
Who can attend?
All British Youth Council members are invited to attend and each organisation has an allocated number of young people they can bring, based on the number of young people you represent and the membership fee you pay (see table below). The young people who you send must be representatives of your organisation and aged 25 or under on the day of the event. Please note, at the moment your organisation will only be listed on the register page if you have paid your membership fee for 2019-20. If you have any questions contact: membership@byc.org.uk
What happens at the event?
The more formal section of the day includes:
-
Debate issues submitted by members, and vote to decide whether or not they get added to our manifesto
-
Elect young people to our Board of Trustees
-
Elect our Honorary Presidents who are elected annually and drawn from representatives of the three main political parties in the House of Commons.
We have a small pot set aside for travel bursaries and this is available for those organisations and people who would not be able to participate without this support. Please contact events@byc.org.uk for more details.
Workshops
Do you have an area of work which you would like to run a workshop on for other BYC members?
Please provide a brief overview (under 300 characters) of your workshop in your registration form. Unfortunately we won't be able to run all of the workshops that are requested, but we will confirm with the successful applicants nearer the date of the event.
Any questions? More information will be posted on this page closer to the event, in the meantime please email events@byc.org.uk or call on 020 7250 8373.
